“Adam put our country-boy through his paces to bring his learning and maturity up a level or two. My son hardly ever covered his school syllabus in his sessions with Adam which was impressive. They focussed on extended learning, thought-development, reflection and inference, all so rarely taught by busy teachers.”
— Laura, happy parent of a successful alumnus, now at Westminster School
ABOUT ME – SPECIALIST SCHOOL ENTRANCE PREPARATION WITH ADAM D’SOUZA
My focus is empowering your son or daughter to thrive in the next step of education
As a school entrance specialist educator, I support a select number of students and their parents with preparation programmes focused on 11+ admissions to academically selective day schools, mainly in London and Surrey, and 13+ British boarding school admissions.
Time and again I love helping families achieve more than they thought possible, by equipping children with knowledge, skills and confidence… First, to ace the entrance exam. Then, more importantly, to thrive as independent learners in their senior school education.

Opening doors to right-fit schools that nurture children’s confidence and curiosity, not just exam passes
MY ACADEMIC APPROACH
For applicants to academically selective schools, exam results matter. This is an obvious truth. But only as part of the bigger picture. My primary aim, as a school entrance specialist, is helping children secure places at the right-fit schools, where they will thrive: academically, emotionally, socially and creatively, all the way through to sixth form and beyond.
This is why I focus on three considerations beyond test scores with every student whom I am guiding through school entrance:
Fit: matching schools to your child’s character, interests and emerging strengths – not simply chasing the biggest name.
Foundations: building conceptual understanding, vocabulary, reasoning and study habits that will sustain academic performance throughout their secondary school years, through value-adding, inspiring tutoring and tracking of home learning.
Future‑proofing: developing the human judgement, communication, critical thinking and independent learning habits that selective schools – and later universities and employers – are really looking for, particularly in a post-AI world.
My teaching approach is creative, fast-paced and informed by educational research on what works in learning. I don’t just sit on the sidelines and turn up with past papers for your child to complete; I work hard to personalise my lesson plans so that your child is inspired and engaged.
These entrance preparation programmes are specifically tailored to students targeting London/Surrey academic day schools and British boarding schools so that your child (and indeed you as parents) feel supported, effectively guided and inspired by the journey. Your son or daughter will, I hope, arrive at their next school ready to succeed and make the most of all the opportunities that come their way.

STRATEGIC ADVICE FOR PARENTS, HELPING YOU NAVIGATE SCHOOL ADMISSIONS WITH CONFIDENCE
What sets my approach apart, and my greatest source of professional pride as a specialist school entrance consultant and tutor, is the quality of human relationships. At the heart of learning is a secure, three-way relationship built on trust and honesty between your child, you as parents and me as your expert advisor.
My aim is to support your whole family through the journey, as your child makes this important transition. Families choose to work with me because they want an experienced, unbiased guide who can apply empathetic judgement sitting on your side of the table. My strengths are:
Lives and breathes selective entrance. My entrance preparation work is focused on 11+ and 13+ admissions into academically selective schools.
Understands schools from the inside. My team and I keep close track of how different schools actually teach, support and select pupils, and we are honest about where a child is likely to thrive.
Balances ambition with wellbeing. I believe in high expectations, but not at the cost of a child’s confidence or curiosity.
Works brilliantly with children who don’t fit into a box! Many of my students are bright but anxious, late‑blooming, are have specific neurodivergent learning profiles; the mission is to design the right path, not to force them into a template.
Offers you continuity. The same expert advisor is thinking about your son or daughter’s academic progress, school fit and admissions plan over time, responding to your evolving thinking – not a rota of hourly tutors.
Select:ed is an educational consultancy – we are emphatically not agents and do not take referral fees from schools, so advice is clearly aligned with your child’s long‑term interests.
“I think the highlights are definitely the way that you manage to push him to achieve his true/full potential, which really helps his confidence. I also like how you show him techniques that make it easier for him. I think it’s great that you give him honest and firm feedback at times as he does need a reality check at times, it’s the only way to help him. I do honestly think you are fantastic and it’s great that you really care and understand him, this really makes such a huge difference I feel. 😊
— Tasneem, happy parent of a successful alumnus, now at Aldenham School
“My son is always so enthused and animated AFTER his sessions that his good mood lasts for ages! … He has been very good at understanding what makes my son tick and where his interests lie and has tailored the tuition to suit that. It’s typical ‘boy stuff’ a lot of the time with interesting adventure stories, tales about new countries and interesting parts of history, but interwoven into that are all the vital skills they need for 11/13+.

WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE…
Time and again, I have helped children achieve more than they thought possible, by equipping them with knowledge, personal capabilities and confidence. This specialist focus has helped former students (more than 240 at the last count!) to secure places at more than 50 of the leading academically selective day and boarding schools.
Furthermore, I have taught and led in London independent schools across both prep and senior phases, and served as an entrance examiner. I invest in visiting schools, cultivating relationships with directors of admissions and am in-demand as a thought leader on British school admissions, including facilitating conferences on entrance preparation – so I know first-hand what academically selective schools are looking for.
Alumni have secured 11+ places at some of London’s most demanding selective day schools (including Westminster, St Paul’s Girls’ and King’s College School Wimbledon) and 13+ places and scholarships at some of the most academically competitive British boarding schools, such as Eton, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks,Brighton College, Marlborough College and Charterhouse.
However, I am equally proud of the children, including neurodivergent students or those with learning difficulties, who achieved ambitious goals and progressed well beyond what they would have believed possible.
A short, confidential call is often the simplest way to see whether I am the right expert guide and mentor for your family. In this brief strategy review we can:
